November 10, 2025

Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) leaders and programs received statewide honors at the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) Fall Leadership Conference in October, highlighting excellence in instruction, leadership development, alumni achievement, and philanthropic support.

Dr. Brittany Lucas, vice president of Adult Education and Reentry Services, graduated from the Senior Leadership Academy (SLA). The program prepares emerging leaders from Georgia’s technical colleges to support the mission, strategic goals, and future advancement of TCSG and its institutions.

Dr. Brian Snelgrove, chief information officer at CGTC, was named TCSG Alumni of the Year, a distinction recognizing graduates of each of Georgia’s technical colleges who have demonstrated professional achievement, service, and significant contributions to Georgia’s workforce and technical education community. Snelgrove is a graduate of Middle Georgia Technical Institute with a diploma in Automotive Technology in 1995, one of the pre-merger institutions that went on to form CGTC in 2013.

Dr. Ekaterina Mirzakulova, CGTC chemistry instructor and 2025 state winner of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction, received proclamations from the TCSG State Board in recognition of her statewide honor. The Rick Perkins Award is the highest instructional award given by TCSG to honor outstanding faculty.

The CGTC Foundation, represented by Associate Vice President for Advancement Tonya McClure, was also recognized as a Role Model Board, a designation awarded to technical college foundations across Georgia that exemplify excellence in governance, fiscal responsibility, fundraising, and support for student success.

Additionally, Dr. Mark Scott, CGTC vice president for Strategic Initiatives, and Charles Briscoe, member of the CGTC Board of Directors, joined a panel of healthcare partners to share with TCSG about progress on the College’s planning grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to support the establishment of a regional STEM/Healthcare High School in Houston County. Through a partnership with regional healthcare providers and the Houston County School District, CGTC aims to establish career-connected learning opportunities for secondary students to strengthen central Georgia’s healthcare workforce.

“It is an exceptional moment when multiple members of our CGTC family are recognized at the state level for their leadership, excellence, and dedication to students,” said Dr. Ivan H. Allen, president of CGTC. “These recognitions reflect the outstanding work taking place across our college and affirm the value of technical education in transforming lives and strengthening communities.”

The TCSG Fall Leadership Conference brings together leaders from across Georgia’s 22 technical colleges and their associated foundations to celebrate achievements and share strategies to advance workforce development and student success statewide.
