Effective student advisement is an important function at CGTC. New students will initially see an advisor in the CARE Center to determine a class schedule. Currently enrolled, Returning, and Transfer students are advised by our faculty members. Your advisor is assigned based on your selected field of study.
It is your responsibility as a student to schedule an advisement session with your advisor before registering each semester. You and your advisor will use DegreeWorks to plan and track your academic progress toward program completion.

In order to pass your class and learn what you need for your career, review your course syllabus for due dates, complete course work, and turn in all assignments. - Talk to your instructor.
Your instructor is there to help you. If you don’t understand an assignment or if you fall behind in class, let your instructor know. Communicate any and all questions and concerns you have. - Take time to consider your options before you withdraw or stop going to class.
Your financial aid depends on the number of classes you finish; if you withdraw or stop attending, you could have to pay for college out of pocket. - Meet with your advisor every semester.
