Career Plus HSE

The Career Plus High School Equivalency (HSE) is an exciting, new program that allows students to combine previously earned credits and completed portions of the GED® test with technical college credits to earn their high school equivalency.

Eligible participants must be:
• 21 years of age or older
• A Georgia resident
• Enrolled in CGTC’s Adult Education program

Free Test Preparation

CGTC’s Adult Education Division offers free Pre-GED® and GED® , ASVAB, and ACCUPLACER test preparation classes in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Dooly, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam and Twiggs counties. The end goal for participants in these courses is a passing score on the GED® Exam and program-ready ASVAB and ACCUPLACER scores. 90 percent of CGTC’s GED® test-takers passed the exam in 2016 Fiscal Year.  In 2017, the CGTC Adult Education Division was awarded by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) for overall achievement of measurable skill gains.

In addition to test preparation, the Adult Education Division provides instruction in the following areas: basic skills review, work ethics, soft skills, college and career readiness, and digital literacy.

English Literacy/Civics Program

The English Literacy/Civics Program is designed for adults with limited or non-English speaking skills. These classes provide English language instruction and additional skills necessary for students to live and work in Georgia. The Adult Education Division offers various levels of instruction from basic literacy to advanced skills. Help is also offered in obtaining U.S. citizenship. In 2016, the CGTC Adult Education Division was awarded by TCSG for having the greatest number of students awarded citizenship in the entire state.
