Warner Robins, Ga. – Join CGTC’s Office of Global Initiatives during Spring Break 2025 to embrace the Titan Spirit while serving and volunteering abroad in Honduras. The program, running, March 29-April 5, 2024, is now open for enrollment.
Following a site visit and discussions this fall, the College is opening its first Titans Volunteer Abroad program thanks to a connection with Orphanage Emmanuel, in Guiamaca, Honduras.
The Orphanage has a longstanding connection to local and regional faith-based organizations, educational institutions, small businesses, and community advocates in Central Georgia and regionally, as it serves the needs of more than 150 Honduran kids annually through education, health care, and other social services.
The College is looking for diverse, skillful, and talented students, faculty and staff of Healthcare, Aerospace, Trade, and Industry, Cybersecurity and Information Technology, Student Athletes, and members of the greater college community willing to spend time with children and the Orphanage’s schools to lead workshops, clinics, support projects, and more in a variety of technical topics.
“We invite those who can offer a skill or be of service to these kids and Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras to consider being a part of this blossoming and meaningful international project,” said JoBen Rivera-Thompson, CGTC’s director for Marketing, Public Relations, and International Outreach. “The group attending will work collaboratively to assess technical areas and projects the College can support at the Orphanage.”
While this is a non-credit opportunity, meaning students are not required to take coursework, the College is certain everyone involved can benefit from the experience of sharing their knowledge and skills and learning from international neighbors to become more empathetic global citizens. Likewise, faculty, staff, and students across the campus community can help to shape the Titan Spirit globally.
The program costs $500 for students, faculty, and staff. Participation is on a first, come, first serve basis. CGTC and/or Orphanage Emmanuel reserve the right to cap the program at any time based on availability. Additional guests will be considered based on student and faculty enrollment and space availability. Guests must also adhere to all College and partner policies regarding participation and payment.
Costs for the program include meals, accommodation, and transportation in the country. The program cost does not include airfare or travel to and from the airport. Individual or group flight costs may vary. Currently, prices range between $450 to $750 per ticket. Participants must commit to the program and its costs before booking a flight through the Office of Global Initiatives and recommended providers. The estimated total cost falls between $950-$1250.
The final deadline for application is January 24, 2025.
The Office of Global Initiatives invites those interested to fill out both forms below. Completing any form is not a guarantee of participation in the program.

All international programs require a valid U.S. Passport. A U.S. passport not expiring within 6 months after travel dates is required to travel to Honduras. Knowledge of Spanish, while helpful, is not a requirement to participate.
All participants must adhere to all policies and regulations regarding foreign travel by the U.S. Department of State and the Government of Honduras, as well as institutional travel policies outlined in the College’s Study Abroad Handbook, and the faith-based requirements of Orphanage Emmanuel regarding residency standards, behavior, attire, and participation in volunteer activities while on their grounds.
Participants in this trip organized by CGTC may also be serving alongside and sharing accommodations with other volunteer groups while in Honduras.
The U.S. State Department currently has Honduras as a Level 3 country in Central America. CGTC staff and leadership have traveled to Honduras and visited its partner Orphanage Emmanuel to assess the safety and risk to students, faculty, and staff. CGTC opens opportunities for students, faculty, and staff in Honduras after submission of a signed assumption of risk and indication that they will adhere to all partner guidelines for safety.
