June 14, 2023

Macon, Ga. – Roshon Jackson, a Radiologic Technology student at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) was recently named the president of the Georgia Student Government Association (GSGA) at the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) State Officer Training & Planning Committee Retreat at Unicoi State Park in June.

He is currently attending clinical rotations at Piedmont Macon Medical Center in Macon. Jackson takes on this new role, while also serving as class president for his Radiologic Technology and a local member of the Student Government Association (SGA) at CGTC where he serves as vice president-student officer.

Jackson said he is pleased to continue representing CGTC at the state level.

“I knew Roshon could do it without a doubt. I was rooting for him the whole time!”- said CGTC SGA advisor Valerie Edwards.  “This is big for CGTC. Roshon is our very first state officer for SGA.”

Over a few months, Jackson’s interest in becoming a GSGA state officer grew.

Jackson completed the application, presented his campaign speech, and took part in a 4-day officer training at Unico State Park & Lodge in Helen, GA. The retreat is where Georgia postsecondary officers work on their plan of action, undergo leadership training, and receive their appointment positions, where he was elected.

Jackson shared that state officers had the opportunity to bond with each other and other state leaders through team-building sessions, organizational meetings, and even a guided outdoor nature hike.
