CGTC’s More than 12,700 Students in Fall 2025 Sets the Enrollment Pace for Georgia’s Two-Year Institutions

Warner Robins, Ga. – More students than ever before attended Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) this fall, enrollment records have become a consistent and recurring trend as CGTC has led the state in enrollment amongst 2-year institutions over the last four years. CGTC’s enrollment of over 12,700 students grew 10 percent higher than last year’s enrollment.

“Students and their families consider CGTC an affordable, high-quality, higher education option, because of its expansive programs, outstanding faculty, and dedicated staff.,” said CGTC Executive Vice President Jeff Scruggs, “For the 12th year in a row, CGTC leads the state in the total number of graduates in high-demand career fields such as precision manufacturing, engineering technology, aviation, and cybersecurity. No matter the program of study, more than 99% of CGTC graduates are either employed, enlisted in the military, or enrolled in another higher education institution.”

Additionally, CGTC is a leader in the number of graduates who earn transferrable two-year degrees, and the College has student transfer agreements with all University System of Georgia (USG) colleges and universities as well as a number of private and independent colleges and universities, such as Mercer University and Wesleyan College. In addition to the 38 general core courses that transfer to every USG institution, CGTC’s transfer degrees offer students affordable and seamless 2+2 pathways to a four-year degree. CGTC is proud of its partnerships with four-year institutions, particularly its collaboration with Middle Georgia State University, one of Georgia’s most affordable senior institutions.

“Transfer opportunities are also made more attractive because of the collective savings families realize through no-cost high school dual enrollment course work,” said Kim Gunn, Executive Director for High School Initiatives at CGTC. “In the last year, central Georgia families have collectively saved more than $11 million dollars in tuition by enrolling their children in high school dual enrollment with CGTC. Not only do these programs make college more affordable, but they help students and families avoid burdensome student loan debt.”

According to National Student Clearinghouse data compiled over a four-year span from 2021 to 2025, CGTC’s high school dual enrollment program transferred 1,657 students to Middle Georgia State University, 900 students to Georgia Southern University, 450 students to Kennesaw State University, 311 students to the University of Georgia, 310 students to Georgia State University, 229 students to Fort Valley State University, 219 students to Georgia College and State University, 218 students to Mercer University, 118 students to Wesleyan College, and 107 students to Georgia Tech. Additionally, over 3,000 students enrolled at CGTC in Fall of 2023 have transferred to 4-year institutions in 41 other states.

Another key strategy at CGTC has been to make intentional investments in student life, housing options, and athletics opportunities as well as expanding new student support services including on-campus health clinics and comprehensive counseling services. These initiatives are aimed at creating the full college experience students deserve, they have attracted not only central Georgians, but also students from 140 Georgia counties, 36 other states, and 13 countries around the globe. CGTC has grown into an education and training destination.

“The student experience provided to me at CGTC is exactly what I felt I needed for my goals,” said Jordan Mathis, a Business Technology student and current Student Government Association president. “The College is affordable and gives me a variety of student activities to enjoy my education and confidence in my skills to succeed in my professional goals.”

The College’s vision encompasses commitment to partnership, collaboration, and innovation in human development. For example, the College is partnering with the Houston County School District, other school districts in the region, and local healthcare systems to pursue Bloomberg Philanthropies funding to establish an innovative regional STEM/Healthcare High School to strengthen central Georgia’s healthcare workforce pipeline.

Standing firm on its mission to offer credit instruction, adult education, and customized business and industry training through traditional and distance education delivery designed to promote community and workforce development, the College looks forward to the continued enrollment of students interested in the positive impact their education makes on families, communities, workforce, and future generations.
