Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) is proud to announce the appointment of Brittany Lucas, PhD., as the new vice president for Adult Education.
Lucas, a native of Cochran, Ga., brings over 18 years of experience in adult education, workforce development, and intergovernmental program management to her new role where she will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support adult learners in the region.
Lucas takes leadership over one of the historically largest Adult Education programs in the Technical College System of Georgia. The program served over 2,100 students in 2024, in high school equivalency, English literacy and civics programs.
“I am deeply honored to step into this new role and continue the important work of expanding access to education for adults in our communities,” said Dr. Lucas. “Education is a powerful tool for transformation, and I am committed to ensuring that all learners have the opportunity to succeed, no matter their background.”
Lucas holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan College, a master’s in education from Georgia College & State University, and a PhD in Adult Education from the University of Georgia. She began her career at CGTC in 2007 in the Adult Education Division, before taking on a leadership role as Director of Satellite Operations at the Workforce Development Center in Hawkinsville. In recent years, Dr. Lucas has served as Executive Director for Reentry Services, where she successfully managed intergovernmental programs with the Georgia Department of Corrections and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice. Under her leadership, CGTC led the state in producing graduates and receiving awards for justice-impacted citizens.
In her new role, Lucas will focus on strengthening community partnerships, expanding access to high school diplomas and equivalencies, and increasing awareness of English literacy and civics programs. She is committed to unlocking employment opportunities and enhancing the economic development of the region through education. Her dedication to supporting lifelong learning and ensuring student success will continue to be a driving force in CGTC’s mission.
