REACH Organization’s Closing Session to Feature Gordon State’s Dr. Kirk Nooks as Part of “Road to Presidency” Talks

Macon, Ga. – Students in the Raising Expectations of Achievement (REACH) organization will have a unique opportunity to hear how one college president in Georgia made it to his position; Dr. Kirk Nooks of Gordon State College.

USDA Grant to Help CGTC Link Jones County College and Career Academy to Campuses

Warner Robins, Ga. – The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently awarded $136,500 from its Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Grant Program to Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), positioning the College to be a part of USDA’s $39.6 million investment into more than 4.5 million rural Americans in 40 states, beginning with nearby Jones County.
Several rural-serving institutions nationwide, including CGTC, will use the grant funding to increase access to education, workforce training, and health care opportunities for their communities. Read More

CGTC’s New Physical Therapist Assistant Program Opens for Initial Enrollment

Warner Robins, Ga. – The Health Sciences Division of Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) announced its newest and most state-of-the-art program recently. The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, an associate of applied science degree, on CGTC’s Warner Robins campus is now recruiting students for a fall semester 2019 program start.
The Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) granted the program Candidacy for Accreditation on November 14, 2018. Candidacy for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with CAPTE that indicates that the program is progressing toward accreditation and may matriculate students in technical courses. New Grant Funding To Provide More Affordable Childcare to CGTC Students

Warner Robins, Ga – Addressing one of the most onerous barriers to postsecondary education, the Child Development Centers (CDC) at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) are launching a new childcare tuition support project for students with dependent children, funded entirely by the award of a recent federal grant.
The Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education will fund the “Start Titan Strong” project to aid credit-enrolled, Pell Grant-eligible CGTC students in need of childcare. Read More

CGTC Cosmetology Program Presents Check to Homeport Home for Homeless Veterans

Macon, Ga. – A semester’s worth of fundraising culminated this month, with CGTC’s Cosmetology program presenting a check for $1,115 to the Macon Homeport Home for Homeless Veterans.
“We are very proud of this department because they know we are fixing lives,” said Homeport president, George M. Brown. “Because they stepped up to the plate we know that their profession and program is on board to assist us in helping lives and accomplishing something of good favor for our veterans.”

CGTC and MGA Sign Articulation Agreement for Early Childhood Care and Education Programs

Warner Robins, Ga. – Qualified Early Childhood Care and Education program graduates from Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) are now eligible to transfer credit into select courses at Middle Georgia State University (MGA).
Under the new articulation agreement, qualified graduates from CGTC’s Early Childhood Education associates degree program will be eligible to transfer major requirements as candidates entering the Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Special Education at MGA.
“The agreement creates a new pathway for students who are dedicated to continuing their personal development so they can have a positive impact on the educational system in Georgia,” said Jay Kramer dean of Public Safety and Professional Services at CGTC. Read More
