A graduate of Middle Georgia Technical Institute with a diploma in Automotive Technology in 1995, one of the pre-merger institutions that went on to form CGTC in 2013, Snelgrove currently serves as Chief Information Officer of Technology at the College.
In this role, he provides strategic leadership and oversight for the institution’s technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital learning platforms, and IT services that support instruction, student success, and college operations. His direction has strengthened CGTC’s ability to deliver modern, secure, and accessible educational experiences across multiple campuses.
Snelgrove holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University, a Master of Science in Computer Science from Columbus State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Macon State College.
Under Dr. Snelgrove’s stewardship, CGTC has advanced key technology initiatives that directly support workforce development and student achievement, including enhancements to online learning systems, improved access to remote and hybrid instruction, scalable network and data systems, and partnerships with industry to align technology training with regional employer needs.
Alongside his team of programming and networking professionals, Snelgrove prioritizes secure, student-centered technology solutions that enable faculty innovation and prepare learners for careers in an increasingly digital economy.
“Dr. Snelgrove exemplifies how technical education and technological leadership can transform an institution and its community,” said Dr. Ivan H. Allen, CGTC’s president. “His commitment to excellence, collaboration, and student success has helped ensure that CGTC remains responsive to the ever-changing technology needs of employers and learners across Central Georgia.”
From CGTC student to an institutional technology leader is a powerful example of the opportunities that technical education creates.
“Receiving this honor from the institution that helped launch my career is deeply meaningful,” Snelgrove said. “Technology is a tool for opportunity. My goal has always been to support the mission of the College and ensure every student can access the systems and training they need to succeed in today’s workforce.”
The Alumni of the Year Award, selected by a committee formed by the CGTC Foundation, honors a graduate who has achieved distinction in their field, contributed meaningfully to technical education, and demonstrated exceptional service to their community.
Snelgrove will be honored among alumni peers of the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) 22-member institutions in the TCSG Leadership Conference at the end of October.
