Jones Family Foundation Awards Central Georgia Technical College Workforce Development Grant

Macon, Ga.—The Charles H. Jones Family Foundation is investing in high-quality, technical training and equipment at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) by awarding a workforce development grant of $250,000. This gift will support local employer and workforce needs in high-demand career training programs.
In April, state and local leaders and Robins Air Force Base (RAFB) officials joined CGTC in announcing the relocation of aerospace training programs and a portion of the RAFB commodities workload to the former Boeing facility at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon. Read More

Technical College System of Georgia to Raise Tuition Rate

Warner Robins, Ga. – The Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) State Board recently approved an $11 increase in the tuition rate for all 22 of Georgia’s technical colleges. The tuition increase will go into effect beginning in the fall 2019 semester.
Since its last tuition increase in 2014, the tuition rate at TCSG colleges has remained at $89 per credit hour. After careful consideration, TCSG decided to increase the amount to $100 per credit hour. Read More

Georgia High School Students Prep for CGTC’s Inaugural Dual Enrollment Study Abroad Trip to Ireland

Pre-K Teacher at CGTC Child Development Center Named State Teacher of the Year Finalist

Warner Robins, Ga. – Heather Williams of Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Larry O’Neal Child Development Center (CDC) Georgia Pre-K Program is one of six finalists for Teacher of the Year for 2019-2020, named recently by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL).

Formerly Incarcerated Citizen Finds the Boost Needed to Graduate from CGTC

Warner Robins, Ga. – In December 2018, Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) and the CGTC Foundation recognized Joshua Brown as the second-ever winner of the Re-Entry Scholarship for Educational Transition (RESET). Milledgeville, Ga. – It’s electric! Well, at least that is certainly the excitement Appleton Boone, an 18-year-old homeschool student from Wilkinson County, feels as he heads into his apprenticeship with GE Healthcare later this spring following his graduation from Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) with an Electronics Technology diploma.
Boone, a homeschool student since seventh grade, enrolled at CGTC’s Milledgeville campus because of the hands-on approach, pace, and rigor of the academic courses.

Milledgeville, Ga. – A new scholarship for students in Baldwin County is now available as the Milledgeville Exchange Club presented the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation last week with a $500 check for the award of two scholarships.

CGTC Announces Keynote Speaker for Commencement Ceremony

Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) will welcome Dr. John Watford, president of South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), to deliver the keynote address at its commencement ceremony on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. The ceremony will honor associate degree, diploma credit-program candidates, and GED® graduates.
In his third year as president of SGTC, Watford has furthered his accomplishments of more than 28 years as an experienced educator. Watford served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at SGTC from February 2012 to March 2016. Read More
