The CGTC Office of High School Initiatives recently reported these numbers to College leadership to recognize the impact the tuition-free program is having on youth in the community.

High school students have the opportunity to earn college course credit through a variety of options at CGTC. Dual enrollment opportunities enhance student engagement, improve graduation rates, and increase student learning. Dual enrollment at CGTC gives high school students the opportunity to get a jump start on their college career by earning college and high school credit simultaneously at little or no cost to the student.

CGTC is home to the largest dual enrollment program in the Technical College System of Georgia.

“These numbers reflect our continued commitment to Bibb County students,” said CGTC executive director of High School Initiatives, Kim Gunn. “The progress counselors and CGTC’s High School Initiatives coordinators have made to enroll students will have a lasting impact on the Bibb county community and workforce for generations.”

Of the 568 students enrolled in the program from Bibb County high schools, Howard and Westside High Schools have seen the most growth in Dual Enrollment at CGTC.

Requests to participate in dual enrollment can be initiated by a parent or student with a counselor or high school initiatives coordinator.
