The International Curbside Food Event and Festival: Food, Information, and Services organized by CGTC and BCSD will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on October 16, 2020, at the Macon Campus Building-K of CGTC.

Event organizers hope to provide much needed goods and key information about adult education and community programs to middle Georgia’s international community.

“We want the community to know that we support the international community and its students in our programs,” said Yumi Kim, CGTC’s instructional coordinator for English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. “We have done food drives before and have been successful in reaching many people in middle Georgia, and they are still invited to the event, but this time we want to be intentional about inviting international communities to receive food and information.”

ESL programs for the AED continue as students from several countries learn to speak the language of operation in the United States. The curbside event will also act as a showcase for the success of students in second-language acquisition, many of whom are the connection to non-english speaking communities in food-shortage.

Community sponsors include Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, Macon-Bibb Health Department and, Moises Velez-Qué Pasa y Estas son las noticias TV, Central City Fam Lodge No. 12, the Department of Family and Children Services, Kappa Lambda Chi Inc., Military Fraternity, Macon-Bibb EOC, Macon-Bibb County Health Department, Masab Temple, Mercer University, Middle Georgia Regional Library, MidSouth Credit Union, Trio, Well Care, WorkSource Georgia Macon/Bibb.

Community groups and event volunteers wearing proper PPE and adhering to social distancing guidelines will deliver food to vehicles at the event. No registration is required.
