Scott Selph Named 2023 RPA Instructor of the Year for CGTC

Warner Robins, Ga. – Precision Machining and Manufacturing program chair Scott Selph was recently named Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Rick Perkins Award (RPA) Winner for Excellence in Technical Instruction for 2023. Selph, who also serves as a division chair in the Aerospace, Trade, and Industry division of the College, was selected as the College’s Instructor of the Year through a multi-step interview process after being nominated by his peers for the award.

CGTC’s Newest Study Abroad Takes Off with First Gilman-McCain Scholarship Winner 

Warner Robins, Ga. – The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program recently awarded Hilary Bretz, a Registered Nursing student at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), with a $5,000 Gilman-McCain scholarship for participation in the College’s Health Sciences Study Abroad to St. Vincent and the Grenadines January 7-18, 2023.  
Named after the late U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona, the John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families provides awards for child and spousal dependents of active military personnel to study or intern abroad in credit-bearing programs. Read More

CGTC Dual Enrollment Growth Doubles in Fall Semester for Bibb County

Macon, Ga. – Fall Semester at Central Georgia Technical College saw double the enrollment growth in dual enrollment students from Bibb County, leading to the College’s largest number from the county in recent years.
The CGTC Office of High School Initiatives recently reported these numbers to College leadership to recognize the impact the tuition-free program is having on youth in the community.

Houston County’s Donald Ochieng Chosen as CGTC’s GOAL Winner  

Warner Robins, Ga. – Donald Ochieng of Bonaire, a Sports and Fitness Management student at Central Georgia Technical College, has been named the College’s winner of the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) for 2023. HOPE High School Equivalency Examination Grant Now Available to Georgians

Funding covers the cost of GED® exam
ATLANTA, GA–The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) today announced that eligible Georgians can now earn their high school equivalency (HSE) diploma for free. Earlier this year, the Georgia General Assembly passed, and Governor Brian P. Kemp signed into law, a bill establishing the HOPE High School Equivalency Examination Grant Program. Gov. Kemp and TCSG Announce New College and Career Academy Partners for Central Georgia Technical College

Warner Robins, Ga. – Governor Brian P. Kemp has announced that the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) approved grants totaling $6 million in bond funds to establish two new College and Career Academies (CCA) in the middle Georgia area. Both new academies will partner with Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) to offer career readiness training to high school students to support a qualified and greater workforce pipeline.
