Chemistry Instructor, Ekaterina Mirzakulova, Named 2025 Rick Perkins Award Winner for Excellence in Technical Instruction

Warner Robins, Ga. – Ekaterina Mirzakulova, Ph.D., a Chemistry instructor at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), has been named the 2025 recipient of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction. She was selected as CGTC’s Instructor of the Year after a multistep interview process following her nomination by peers for this prestigious award.
A native of Uzbekistan, Mirzakulova, is affectionately known as Dr. Kate amongst her students and peers. She began her academic journey when she learned that a professor from the United States was recruiting students from a neighboring country for a graduate program at Bowling Green State University. Central Georgia Technical College Announces Campus Closure Ahead of Winter Storm

Macon, Ga. – In response to the projections for inclement winter weather across North and Central Georgia on Friday from the National Weather Service (NWS), Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), and the Governor’s Office, all Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) campuses and centers will be closed Friday, January 10, 2025.   
Earlier this week, the Governor’s Office directed state agencies to close buildings and halt operations in Macon-Bibb County and north within the state, prompting College leadership to close Friday.

CGTC Explores International Education Partnerships During Ghana Visit Alongside Hilltop Global Group 

Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) representatives returned from Ghana in November, where they explored opportunities for international collaboration in technical education and student mobility. The visit, funded in part by grant funding from the U.S. Department of State’s Increase and Diversify Education Abroad for U.S. Students (IDEAS) Program, aimed to develop and expand study abroad programs, aimed to assess opportunity in Ghana for future Titans.
