Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) recently named, Deryk Stoops, an Automation Technology instructor in the Aerospace, Trade, and Industry Division as its 2026 Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction Winner.
Stoops is originally from Camden County, Georgia and has worked for CGTC for seven years, after previously working in the System at South Georgia Technical College in Americus. Read More

Chemistry Instructor, Ekaterina Mirzakulova, Named 2025 Rick Perkins Award Winner for Excellence in Technical Instruction

Warner Robins, Ga. – Ekaterina Mirzakulova, Ph.D., a Chemistry instructor at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), has been named the 2025 recipient of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction. She was selected as CGTC’s Instructor of the Year after a multistep interview process following her nomination by peers for this prestigious award.
A native of Uzbekistan, Mirzakulova, is affectionately known as Dr. Kate amongst her students and peers. She began her academic journey when she learned that a professor from the United States was recruiting students from a neighboring country for a graduate program at Bowling Green State University. Brooklynn McDowell of Bleckley County Chosen as CGTC’s GOAL Winner

Warner Robins, Ga. – Brooklynn McDowell, a Dental Hygiene student from Bleckley County at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) for the College.
The announcement was made during CGTC’s annual GOAL Awards Ceremony in December 2024, where McDowell was honored for his outstanding academic achievements and leadership qualities. In recognition of this distinction, she will receive a monetary award from the CGTC Foundation and a reserved parking space on campus for the remainder of her studies. Read More
