Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Nursing student, Hannah Womack, recently visited with Governor Brian Kemp, and leaders in the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to briefly share her story of perseverance and commitment to education while navigating the foster care system.

Womack’s story earned a recent feature in an opinion column by TCSG Commissioner, Greg Dozier, in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where her journey was recognized as a powerful example of how technical education can transform lives.

Currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Womack is working toward becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). With determination and resilience, she has been shaped by years spent in the foster care system and the challenges of transitioning into adulthood while striving to build a better future.

Through support provided by Georgia’s Fostering Success Act, Womack was able to access the resources needed to enroll and persist in her studies. The program helps remove barriers by assisting with essential needs such as housing, transportation, and daily living expenses. It provides critical support for students balancing education with real-life responsibilities.

In his column to the AJC, Dozier emphasized that students like Womack represent the broader impact of technical education. opening doors to opportunity while strengthening Georgia’s workforce.

Womack’s journey underscores the importance of investing in students and programs that create pathways to success.
