Warner Robins, Ga. – Adult Education Instructor Lisa Dennis has been named the Adult Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year (OTOY).
Lisa Dennis is a Macon-Bibb County resident and was a non-traditional student who graduated from Fort Valley State University in 2000; she began volunteer efforts at her home church’s adult literacy program in the same year which led to a 22-year path of adult education service with Central Georgia Technical College.
“Adult Education classrooms foster a sense of community, service to others, and teamwork; when students move on to the next stage in their lives, they have built relationships with one another that they continue through college, business, and life,” said Dennis. “In a nutshell, Adult Education is an awesome investment that provides for quick returns with long-term results.”
Dennis became a full-time adult education teacher in 2001, she graduated from Troy University while working and taking care of her family in 2010.
The OTOY is designed to recognize and honor the most outstanding adult education teachers who make significant contributions to the field through instruction, innovation, and leadership.
The OTOY exemplifies excellence and has a deep commitment to the mission of the Technical System of Georgia Office of Adult Education.
