CGTC VP for Economic Development, Andrea Griner, Earns Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award

Macon, Ga. – Scouting America and the Central Georgia Council recently awarded its Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award to Andrea Griner, Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Vice President for Economic Development.

The award, given annually, is known as the “Fretwell” and represents continued commitment to excellence in education.

Joined by colleagues and community members, Griner received the award at the Stronger Together Gala, a signature black-tie event hosted by the Central Georgia Council.

“The work that the Central Georgia Council is doing to support and mentor the youth in our region is life changing, and to be recognized for playing a small role in it is truly an honor.” said Griner. “It is wonderful that this award serves as recognition of the important role that education plays in the lives of youth in Central Georgia.”

In her more than ten years leading CGTC’s Economic Development Division, Griner ensures comprehensive customized training and continuing education programs are available and aligned to support the workforce development needs of business and industry in the College’s service delivery area. Training delivered through the Economic Development Division is wide-ranging and impacts individuals from all walks of life and across industry sectors.

In addition to her focus on training, Griner provides assistance to local development authorities and community leaders by supporting efforts to recruit new industry and support the expansion of existing industries in the central Georgia region.

The College and its leadership extend their congratulations to Mrs. Griner on her award and commend her continued dedication to the local community and the College’s mission.
