Warner Robins, GA – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) is proud to announce a major national achievement by one of its outstanding students. Kaleb Brown, a 20-year-old student in the Information Technology (IT), earned 1st Place in Computer Programming at the 2025 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, held this past week in Atlanta, Ga.

“This is a huge national-level achievement and a reflection of the hard work, talent, and dedication Kaleb has put into his craft,” said SkillsUSA club advisor and instructor and program chair for Business Management, Brione Burrows. “He represented our club and school with excellence, and we couldn’t be prouder.”

Competing against the top programming students from across the country, Brown demonstrated advanced technical expertise, innovation, and problem-solving skills that distinguished him as the best in his field.

“I love computer programming because computers have no end — they are always evolving,” said Brown. “I envision myself collaborating with various companies and organizations, helping them leverage new AI developments for cybersecurity practices.”

Brown’s dream is to pursue freelance work focused on training AI systems to improve workflow efficiency across global industries. He is passionate about being on the cutting edge of AI developments for cybersecurity, committed to continual learning and adapting to emerging technologies to deliver optimized, forward-thinking solutions.

Burrows and Dr. Lyndsey Opoku-Fianko, instructor for Business Management, support and mentor students in SkillsUSA throughout competitions. Brown expressed that their guidance and encouragement played a vital role in his journey and success.

Brown’s win not only highlights his individual excellence but also shines a spotlight on the quality of CGTC’s Information Technology programs, the strength of its SkillsUSA chapter, and the College’s commitment to preparing students for meaningful, high-impact careers.

Cybersecurity and Information Technology are high-demand and critical industries for Central Georgia, regionally and nationally. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports Cybersecurity and Information Technology growth rates higher than the national average for jobs, and shows the national median annual wage for information security analysts was $124,910 in summer 2024.

In addition to the activities within the Information Technology and Cybersecurity programs and SkillsUSA, CGTC also offers a Cybersecurity Club to students through Campus Life.
