Warner Robins, Ga. – U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff recently announced new resources to help veterans find jobs after they leave the Armed Forces, including $300,000 in grant funding awarded to Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) and the Georgia Veterans Education Career Transition Resource Center (VECTR).
Bipartisan legislation passed in February led to this funding to support organizations across Georgia that help veterans find jobs once they leave the Armed Forces.
The CGTC Foundation will work with the VECTR Center to administer the funding.
“I have secured the bipartisan support in the Senate to help veterans across the State of Georgia find employment in the civilian workforce,” Sen. Ossoff said, in his office’s media release on the funding.
CGTC and the VECTR Center will use the federal funding to enhance access to workforce training and postsecondary education for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
The project will fund workforce development training, including direct training, career coaching, resume and interview preparation, and student supplies such as books, certifications, and more.
“On behalf of the Central Georgia Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees and Central Georgia Technical College, we are honored to receive this Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) grant through Senator Ossoff’s office to support Georgia’s veterans through workforce training and job readiness programs at CGTC’s VECTR Center,” said Tonya L. McClure, Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
“This investment will provide life-changing opportunities through career training and employment services, helping veterans regain stability and build a secure future. We are grateful for the Senator’s leadership, as well as that of our entire legislative delegation, as we partner to strengthen our veteran community.”
