Warner Robins, GA – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) has announced that the 2020 Commencement Ceremony will be held virtually on Friday, August 7 at 3:00 p.m.

After extensive deliberation, and following guidance from the Governor’s Executive Orders, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Georgia public health officials, the College’s leadership team determined that the traditional in-person ceremony, scheduled for July 24 in the Macon Coliseum, presented several potential health risks for students, faculty, staff, and guests during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While CGTC will not have a traditional ceremony, College administrators expressed the importance of finding an alternative solution to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2020 graduating class.

“Our faculty and staff share the disappointment of our graduates for not being able to hold the traditional ceremony,” said Dr. Craig Jackson, vice president for student affairs at CGTC. “Although the coronavirus pandemic has altered our commencement ceremony plans, we were dedicated to finding a fitting solution to celebrate this significant moment for our students and acknowledging their hard work.”

The virtual ceremony will be streamed on the College’s website at www.centralgatech.edu/graduation and official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/centralgatech.
