BB&T Foundation Awards $50,000 Grant to CGTC for New Workforce Initiative for Adult Education Students

Macon, Ga. – Reaching a livable income without a high school education often requires adults to advance gradually through adult education programs, job training, and then into a career, a process the BB&T Foundation aims to accelerate with its recent $50,000 award to the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation.
Working alongside the College’s Foundation, Economic Development, and Adult Education Divisions, BB&T is funding the BB&T Workforce Investment Program, a collaborative opportunity focused on impacting individuals through short-term education and training programs designed to quickly move participants toward securing and sustaining a livable wage. CGTC Announces Rick Perkins Award Winner and Adjunct Instructor of the Year

Warner Robins, Ga. – The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) 2019 Rick Perkins Award for Excellence winner, Dr. Devona Bell, and Adjunct Instructor of the Year, Anita Ross, share a unique bond; Ross taught Bell in her ninth grade science class.
“Ms. Ross was very inspirational and I absolutely adored her enthusiasm for success,” said Bell, the Criminal Justice program chair, who has earned her own success as the College’s best full-time instructor.

Central Georgia Technical College Receives Bloomberg Philanthropies Gift to Support Georgia’s VECTR Center

Warner Robins, Ga.—Georgia’s Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center has received a $100,000 grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Bloomberg Philanthropies works in 480 cities in more than 120 countries around the world to ensure better, longer lives for the greatest number of people. The organization, which encompasses all of Michael R. Bloomberg’s charitable activities, focuses on five key areas: Arts, Education, Environment, Government Innovation, and Public Health.
