Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) joins the citizens of Georgia in
mourning the passing of former State Legislator Larry Walker Jr., one of Houston County’s most
influential sons and a respected public servant whose leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on
our state and its communities.

Throughout his distinguished career, Representative Walker demonstrated a deep commitment to public
service, economic development, education, and the well-being of Georgians. As a founding member of
his own law firm in Perry, he went on to serve 32 continuous years in the Georgia General Assembly,
including 16 years as House Majority Leader. His thoughtful leadership and steadfast advocacy helped
strengthen opportunities for individuals, families, and businesses across Georgia.

During his time in the Georgia Legislature, Representative Walker helped lead the efforts to secure funding for Middle Georgia Technical College’s (now CGTC) campus completed in 1997 at 80 Cohen Walker Drive in Warner Robins. In Fall 2014, the CGTC Board of Directors approved a resolution to name the College’s multi-purpose building in his honor. This facility, known as the Lawrence C. “Larry” Walker, Jr. Building, is home to Walker Arena and continues to serve students through academic classes, adult education services, and campus life and athletics activities.

The impact former Representative Walker had on his community and the state of Georgia are
immeasurable. His example of service will continue to inspire and influence future generations, and his
legacy of integrity, civic engagement, and commitment to progress will be remembered by all who had
the privilege of working alongside him and benefiting from his efforts.

On behalf of the Central Georgia Technical College Board of Directors, faculty, staff, students, and
alumni, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Walker family, friends, and colleagues during this
difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they celebrate a life of service and lasting
impact.
