Rep. Tangie Herring Appointed to CGTC Board of Trustees, Bringing Passion for Education and Community

Macon, Ga. – The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation recently appointed Georgia State Representative, Tangie Herring, to its Board of Trustees.

With nearly three decades of teaching experience and a record of dedicated public service, Herring brings a unique blend of educational expertise, leadership, and deep community connection to her new role.

“We are thrilled to appoint Representative Herring to our board,” said Tonya McClure, CGTC’s associate vice president for Advancement who oversees the Foundation. “Her background in education and deep connection to our community will add valuable experience to the Board as it continues it mission to support our students.”

Herring, who represents Georgia House District 145, has built her career around helping others succeed, as an educator, small business owner, and advocate for families. She holds degrees from Georgia College, Mercer University, and Georgia State University, and understands the life-changing opportunities that education provides.

Her appointment reflects CGTC’s continued commitment to ensuring students have access to exceptional training, supportive learning environments, and pathways to in-demand careers that strengthen the entire region.

Herring’s professional accomplishments are matched by her commitment to community empowerment and revitalization, particularly in Macon-Bibb and Monroe counties.

As a passionate advocate for our public schools and equitable opportunities, Rep. Herring is dedicated to addressing the needs of her constituents. Her priorities include improving educational resources, enhancing community safety, fostering economic development and more.

Rep. Herring is married to Wallace Herring of Macon and has one daughter, Zion. Guided by the values instilled by her family and anchored by her commitment to service.
