Titans Club Football Takes on Omega Prep

Warner Robins, Ga. – Saturday, September 23, at 2 p.m. will mark the first athletic event to be held at Atrium Health Field at the Roy H. “Sonny” Watson Wellness Complex on the Warner Robins Campus for Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC).

At 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, a pre-game ceremony led by the CGTC Foundation will celebrate the partnership and financial contributions of Atrium Health Navicent, Houston Healthcare, and ICB Construction Group to bring to life the new complex.

Atrium Health Navicent and Houston Healthcare provided combined gifts of $1.2 million in support of the new health and wellness facility at CGTC’s campus in Warner Robins, and ICB Construction Group, constructed and donated the scoreboard.

“We are so grateful for the continued support of two of our most dedicated partners, Atrium Health Navicent and Houston Healthcare,” said Tonya McClure, assistant vice president of Institutional Advancement at CGTC. “Their significant gifts along with the donation of the scoreboard from ICB Construction, helped bring the project to fruition and allowed us the ability to provide a new level of support to our students, employees, and our community.”

The facility not only enhances the campus but also provides a much-needed mechanism to foster the health of students, staff, partners, and neighbors. The Titans’ second season of club football enters its first true home game with an undefeated, 4-0 record. After the game on September 23, two additional home games will be played on the field including Homecoming, October 7 against Gordon State College, and October 28, versus Jacksonville Athletic JC.

“Building a football program here at CGTC means bringing in young men with character and then supporting them to achieve success and recognition, and then graduate to move on to the next levels of football competition and academics,” said head coach, Terry Kendrick. “This brand-new field represents community and College support of these young men, so coming out to see us bring our brand of football on this new field means fans get to build this program together for our community from the ground up.”

In addition to the ceremony, the public is invited to show up with their Titan spirit to enjoy the football game, food truck vendors, giveaways, and music. The tailgate area opens from 10:30 a.m. via the entrance at Cohen Walker and Sutherlin Dr., on the Warner Robins Campus. The Sutherlin Drive entrance of campus will close promptly at 11 a.m., and all game day traffic must enter the main entrance of the College.

Students, faculty, and staff get in free with a valid identification. General admission is just $10. Kids 12 and under are free. Limited bleacher seating is available. Fans are encouraged to bring chairs.
