Fall Enrollment Climbs Above 13,000 as CGTC Remains a Top Choice for Students
Warner Robins, Ga. – For a fifth consecutive year, more students than ever are choosing Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) making it a premier option among higher education institutions statewide. This fact is reflected in the record-breaking fall 2026 enrollment of more than 13,000 students and CGTC’s unprecedented community engagement within the region.
As AY 2026 closed out after summer term, enrollment data shows that CGTC once again leads the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) for enrollment with 17,549 unduplicated students enrolled during the academic year, representing a 9.7 percent growth over the previous year. A new TCSG data metric for AY2026 shows institutional engagement with total service area population and prime enrollment age populations. CGTC is above 3 percent and 5 percent, respectively.
Community engagement data is a growing measure for community colleges nationwide, and TCSG is leading on reporting those figures for its colleges. CGTC serves 11 counties in Georgia, and census data estimates the service delivery area population above 535,000 with upwards of 330,000 in prime enrollment age. The 5 percent engagement rate, or around 10,000 students age 16-64, is the highest among TCSG’s 22 institutions and demonstrates the College’s commitment to being a prime resource for the entire community.
“Because community and technical colleges are less likely to recruit beyond their region, exploring the data on local population engagement is paramount to our mission,” said CGTC President, Dr. Ivan H. Allen. “Record enrollment combined with positive engagement signals to our community that we are a first choice for quality education, training, and the student experience.”
During the current Fall term, CGTC has experienced 4.3 percent growth overall. Among traditional credit students, (non-dual enrollment) CGTC has had an explosive 14 percent increase. This signifies that students are making CGTC a first choice out of high school, or for skilled workforce training for career alignment changes.
The student experience at CGTC was one of the selling points for Niyati Davey, a second-year student in the Business Management program.

“The student experience at CGTC has been so valuable to me, “ said Davey. “Student organizations and clubs have helped me build skills and improve weaknesses that I had. The resources, combined with instructors and staff who are willing to help in any way, made it right for me.”
Davey is just one of the record-breaking number students who enrolled for fall semester at CGTC. She is active in student organizations across campus, including one designed to enhance the student experience. She is a member Raising Expectations of Achievement (REACH), a student organization focused on building leadership skills designed to connect faculty and staff mentors with participants to help guide them through their college experience.
Davey also serves in Student Government Association (SGA), FBLA, SkillsUSA, and even works part-time at the College’s Bibliu bookstore. She is finding her place as part of a historic and consistent growth for the College this decade.
In addition to higher enrollment, CGTC has increased its number of full-time enrollees by 18 percent in Fall term, and credit hours are up 6.7 percent. In Fall 2025, CGTC topped 100,000 credit hours for the first time ever; in Fall 2026, the College is offering almost 107,000 credit hours.
One of the advantages to students who make CGTC a first choice is the College’s transfer partnerships. The College has student transfer agreements with all University System of Georgia (USG) colleges and universities as well as a number of private and independent colleges and universities, such as Mercer University and Wesleyan College.
“My main priority right now is to try and get into the workforce and see what opportunities I have for establishing my career,” said Daniel Nwako who is in the final year of his Design and Media Production program. “I recognize that when I want to continue my education and transfer, CGTC has made those opportunities a reality, and that’s a reality I really appreciate.”

Within the past month, CGTC has expanded transfer opportunities even further by signing additional agreements with both Albany State University and South Georgia State College offering affordable and seamless 2+2 pathways to a four-year degree.
Standing firm on its mission to offer credit instruction, adult education, and customized business and industry training through traditional and distance education delivery designed to promote community and workforce development, the College looks forward to the continued enrollment of students interested in the positive impact their education makes on families, communities, workforce, and future generations.
