Macon, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) will welcome home one of its own, 2024 Outstanding Alumni Award, Moeiini Reilly to deliver the keynote address at its annual commencement ceremony at the Macon Coliseum on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 7 p.m.
Each commencement ceremony marks an important moment for the College, the leader in graduates for the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). The evening embraces the path of students as they move forward with their education and excel in their futures.
Few alumni have proven to exemplify the movement, excellence, dedication, and gratitude to technical education as Reilly.
“Moeiini’s contributions to the College and our community as a student, researcher, community and technical education advocate are excellent qualities for our graduates to emulate,” said CGTC President, Dr. Ivan H. Allen. “His journey to CGTC and path at Georgia Tech are compelling and inspiring.”
Reilly, a researcher for the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) and Ph.D. student in the Computer Science program, received the 2024 Outstanding Alumni Award from CGTC and was recognized by the TCSG for his contributions to technical education alongside alumni from all 22 member institutions.
Reilly’s journey began at Howard High School in Macon, Georgia. At CGTC, he earned associate degrees in electronics technology and information technology and began his career path as an engineer.
Reilly’s career path also took off in CGTC’s IT department where he earned roles as a network and systems administrator. His early experiences at CGTC became foundational for his future endeavors in technology and community engagement.
He currently serves as a Research Technologist I in the Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL), where he works with the STEM@GTRI team designing, facilitating, and engaging communities across the Georgia for targeted workforce development in support of the education of future technology leaders.
He is also active in community and STEM outreach, helping CGTC students secure internships with GTRI, mentoring future technologists, and volunteering with organizations such as the Macon Arts Alliance, and through his role as a Knight Fellow as part of the Knight Emerging City Champions Program. The program is a civic fellowship sponsored by the Knight Foundation and 8 80 Cities, where Reilly supports many Macon-area events for civic engagement and changemaking, for what he calls “creating a more joyful, accessible, and engaging Macon.”
“I am blessed to share this occasion with this year’s graduates and their families, and I am honored to be invited to speak with them at commencement,” said Reilly.
The College looks forward to welcoming Reilly to the ceremony and witnessing how his story connects with graduates.
