CGTC Announces Upcoming Macon Campus Renovation Project and Safety Reminders

August 17, 2026

Macon, Ga. — Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) is preparing for a major renovation project at the Macon Campus that will include improvements to Buildings C, D, E, F, G, and portions of Building B. After months of planning and collaboration, construction activities went underway this month, marking the start of a significant project designed to enhance campus facilities and improve the learning environment for students, employees, and visitors.

The CGTC Facilities Department said the Phase 1 activities began in the first week of August. Phase 1 is projected to last approximately 16 weeks. Additional phases are expected to follow, with most phases estimated at 16 weeks and Phase 2 projected to have a 20-week duration.

This project represents a significant investment in the future of the College’s Macon Campus. The College appreciates the patience, flexibility, and cooperation of our students, employees, and campus visitors as we work through the impacts of the renovation effort.

Due to the scope of the project, campus operations will experience temporary changes throughout the construction process. Students, employees, and visitors should anticipate adjustments involving building access, parking areas, entry points, and pedestrian routes.

Academic Affairs is working closely with campus departments to coordinate the relocation and management of academic spaces throughout each phase of construction.

Safety remains a top priority during the renovation project. Members of the campus community are encouraged to:

  • Follow all posted construction signage and designated pathways.
  • Use only authorized entrances and exits during each phase of construction.
  • Exercise caution near construction areas and remain aware of changing traffic patterns.
  • Avoid restricted areas and follow instructions from campus officials and construction personnel.
  • Allow additional time for parking, walking routes, and campus access.

Construction activities may also result in temporary increases in noise, dust, and other conditions associated with renovation work. CGTC will continue monitoring construction impacts and communicating updates as changes occur.

CGTC appreciates the campus community’s continued cooperation and understanding as this important renovation project moves forward. Through collaboration and flexibility, the College remains committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment while improving facilities for future generations of Titans.
