Warner Robins, Ga. – Amanda Cobb, MSRS, RT(R)(M), Program Chair for Radiologic Technology at Central Georgia Technical College, was among a select group of educators from across the United States chosen to participate in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Educator Institute, held in the month of April at ASRT headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The ASRT Educator Institute is a highly competitive professional development program designed to prepare and empower educators in medical imaging and radiation therapy. Participants are selected through a national application process, with only 15 educators accepted into each cohort. Prior to attending the in-person institute, participants complete online coursework before engaging in an intensive educational experience focused on adult learning principles, curriculum design, technology integration, educator well-being, and instructional leadership.
Cobb joined fellow educators representing colleges and universities from across the United States, as well as two international educators, to collaborate on innovative teaching practices and strategies that strengthen radiologic science education. The institute also provided opportunities to engage with national leaders representing the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences (AEIRS), the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology (ACERT), and Lambda Nu National Honor Society.
“Being selected to participate in the ASRT Educator Institute was both an incredible honor and an invaluable professional development experience,” said Cobb. “Collaborating with some of the nation’s most respected radiologic science educators challenged me to think differently about teaching, leadership, and student success. I’m excited to bring these innovative ideas and best practices back to CGTC to enhance the educational experience for our students.”

Cobb has established herself as a respected leader in radiologic science education through service at the institutional, state, and national levels. She currently serves as a site visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and as a peer reviewer for the Radiologic Technology journal published by the ASRT, where she is also a published author. She previously served as Student Affairs Chairperson for the Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists (GSRT), chairperson of the Georgia Educators Association of Radiologic and Imaging Sciences (GEARMI) and has twice been nominated to represent Georgia as an Education Chapter Delegate for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Cobb is one of the many CGTC faculty members who continue to enhance academic programs, foster innovation in the classroom, and ensure students receive an education that reflects the evolving needs of the workforce.
