Warner Robins, Ga. – Northrup Grumman, a global aerospace and defense technology company, recently awarded the Georgia Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center grant funding for a third consecutive year to assist the Center and its veteran students with program costs.
This year the VECTR Center will apply the $3000 grant to help students cover fees, the EPA certification for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) programs, books and equipment.
“These funds help with program costs so that veteran students can persist to graduation without a financial barrier,” said Ret. Col. Patricia Ross, executive director of the VECTR Center. “We are extremely grateful to Northrup Grumman and their continued support.”
A good portion of the students benefiting from the grant already receive funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), yet barriers still exist to some to find funding to fully cover programs. VECTR recently expanded program offerings alongside a new wing of classroom and lab space erected in 2019.
“Especially with individuals becoming unemployed due to COVID-19, the accessibility and availability of gap funding enables military and veteran students to earn skills in a high-demand career, critical to their success,” Ross added.
Eligibility for funding is determined through the advisement and registration procedures of the VECTR Center.
