Warner Robins, Ga. – Preparations are underway for the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation’s 9th Annual Race for Education 5k and Obstacle Run in support of the College’s Adult Education Division (AED). As the race nears its Saturday, September 8, 2018 start, organizers are seeking key community involvement.

“Supporting the educational goals of adult citizens in our community is empowering,” said Mary Kathryn Borland, race coordinator and member of CGTC’s advancement division. “Each year that we organize this event, sponsors, volunteers, organizers and everyone else involved walk away knowing they had a hand in changing lives by supporting CGTC’s Adult Education program. Plus, the entire morning is an incredible amount of fun for the entire family.”

“We welcome all members of the community who are passionate about making a difference in the educational and workforce needs of our area to support our Adult Education Division. We know supporting these students not only helps them and their families but makes our communities stronger when they are able to achieve educational success.”

The Race for Education is a fundraiser supporting Adult Education programs at CGTC. All proceeds from the Race for Education are utilized by CGTC’s AED, which provides GED® preparation and testing, basic skills classes, Accelerating Opportunities (AO), and college and career transition support. Held annually in September, the race celebrates National Literacy Month.
