Scott Selph Named 2023 RPA Instructor of the Year for CGTC

Warner Robins, Ga. – Precision Machining and Manufacturing program chair Scott Selph was recently named Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Rick Perkins Award (RPA) Winner for Excellence in Technical Instruction for 2023. Selph, who also serves as a division chair in the Aerospace, Trade, and Industry division of the College, was selected as the College’s Instructor of the Year through a multi-step interview process after being nominated by his peers for the award. 
 
Selph is a Cochran-Bleckley County resident and graduated from Macon Technical College in 1990. Read More

Central Georgia Aviation Partnership Update: Following Spring Semester Interruption, CGTC Aerospace Programs are On-track for Fall

Macon, Ga – Just over one year has passed since Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) joined Robins Air Force Base (Robins AFB) and the Macon-Bibb County Development Authority in the Central Georgia Aviation Partnership, in which, among being prime to launch economic growth in Georgia’s aviation sector, also gave the College’s Aviation programs a boost.
CGTC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AVMT) and Aircraft Structural Technology (AST) programs benefitted from the partnership by securing lab and office space adjacent to Robins AFB operations. Read More

Macon-Bibb Industrial Authority, Robins AFB, CGTC Announce Aviation Workforce Training and Sustainment Center

Macon, Ga. – Students enrolled in aerospace training programs at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) will soon have the opportunity to learn in a first-of-its-kind partnership alongside Robins Air Force Base (Robins AFB) employees, working on active aviation repair and maintenance projects.
The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, Robins AFB, and CGTC announced Friday a new state aviation workforce training and sustainment approach located at the former Boeing facility at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MGRA). The announcement revealed that members of the 402 Commodities Maintenance Group (402 CMXG) at Robins AFB and two of the College’s aerospace training programs are planning to relocate to approximately 240,000 square feet of property at the airport. Women in Non-Traditional Career Path Programs at CGTC Confidently Shape Their Futures

Warner Robins, Ga. – The tools to success for an increasing number of women at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) are changing; a group of women enrolled in non-traditional career paths are encouraging their gender to put down its stethoscopes and stationery and exchange them for torches and razors.

As a part of Aerospace, Trade and Industry programs including, Welding and Joining Technology, Barbering, and Aircraft Structural Technology, three women from different ages and backgrounds are forming a collective that is discovering new talents and exercising them in career path programs not usually pursued by their gender. Perdue Farms to Host Pre-Screening Event for Industrial Mechanic Apprenticeships at CGTC

Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Aerospace, Trade and Industry program recently completed an agreement with Perdue Farms to offer an industrial systems apprenticeship program, and now the search is on to fill these positions with qualified candidates in middle Georgia.
On June 7 and 8, 2018 Perdue Farms and CGTC will host two, pre-screening events for qualified candidates on the Macon and Warner Robins campuses, respectively. Perdue Farms representatives are seeking qualified individuals with prior mechanical capabilities. Read More
