BB&T Foundation Awards $50,000 Grant to CGTC for New Workforce Initiative for Adult Education Students

Macon, Ga. – Reaching a livable income without a high school education often requires adults to advance gradually through adult education programs, job training, and then into a career, a process the BB&T Foundation aims to accelerate with its recent $50,000 award to the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation.
Working alongside the College’s Foundation, Economic Development, and Adult Education Divisions, BB&T is funding the BB&T Workforce Investment Program, a collaborative opportunity focused on impacting individuals through short-term education and training programs designed to quickly move participants toward securing and sustaining a livable wage. Warner Robins, Ga. – Students at Walker State Prison in the Welding program of Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Office of Re-entry Services recently sent Gov. Nathan Deal and first lady Sandra Deal handcrafted gifts. CGTC Awarded U.S. Department of Labor Grant for Workplace Safety and Health Training

Warner Robins, Ga. – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced in a recent press release the award of $9.3 million in Susan Harwood federal safety and health training grants to 74 nonprofit organizations nationwide including, Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC). The College received $163,781 in funding under the grant’s Capacity Building Developmental designation for OSHA training to small businesses.
Under the grant, CGTC – the only technical college in Georgia to receive funds – proposed to establish a Regional Safety Training Center to deliver OSHA training to small businesses in its eleven-county service area. Read More

CGTC Leads Technical College System in Graduates for Fifth Year

Warner Robins, Ga. – The 2017-2018 Academic Year marks the fifth consecutive year that Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) surpassed 3,000 total graduates, according to state data, becoming the only technical college in Georgia to achieve this benchmark from academic years’ 2014-2018. First-Ever Scholarship at Georgia VECTR Center Awarded to Veteran

Aviation Maintenance Program at CGTC Welcomes First Female Instructor

Warner Robins, Ga. – What came about as nothing more than a woman’s mechanical intuition, sparked a 17-year career in the male-dominated field of aviation maintenance (AVMT) for Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC)’s first female program instructor, Deanne Corbin.

Harvey, Business Customer Service and Technology instructor, a finalist for its 2017 Vocational Instructor of the Year. CGTC Engineering Technology Students Visit Fort Valley State University

Warner Robins, Ga. – Students in Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Engineering Technology program recently visited Fort Valley State University (FVSU) to explore avenues for post-graduate study.
The trip included information on job placement, participant testimonials, and demonstrations from current FVSU students on recently completed projects.
The students that participated in the trip to FVSU are a part of the pilot program offered to Engineering Technology students through the ProActive Student Success (PASS) program.
