Goal 4: Training and Services for Economic Development
Assure economic development for central Georgia by providing CGTC
customized business and industry and Quick Start services.
Desired Long-term Outcome
Increase the number of employees and prospective employees served
by CGTC customized business and industry and Quick start programs
and services by 5% each year.
Objectives
4A. Increase services to support economic development
and to contribute to the creation and retention of jobs for central
Georgia through Quick Start and CGTC economic development programs
each year.
- Improve community awareness of CGTC economic development programs
by seeking involvement in community activities such as setting
up booths, hosting industry appreciation events, and awarding
recognitions or certificates.
- Implement a direct mail program to small and large businesses
including marketing pieces such as newsletters, bulletins, and
web-based communications.
4A1. Increase Quick Start workforce training and services
for new and expanding business and industry each year.
- Maintain a strong working relationship with the chambers of
commerce, economic development councils, and industrial development
authorities in each county within the service area to promote
Quick Start services.
4A2. Increase CGTC customized services for business,
industry, and other organizations each year to help central Georgia
build and maintain a high-performance workforce for existing employers.
- Enhance the process through which new and expanding companies
are helped to transfer smoothly from Quick Start services to
ongoing CGTC customized services.
- Provide in-house training on CGTC customized business and
industry services and Quick Start issues for faculty and staff
to enable and encourage them to promote CGTC economic development
services.
4A3. Increase CGTC outsource services for employee training
and other human resource development functions for central Georgias
business and industry each year.
- Seek to develop long-term relationships with local client
companies and develop standing contracts for providing on-going
and/or periodic customized training/human resource development
package.
- Continue collaboration between economic development and credit
technical programs to provide on-going training programs and
human resource development services for local companies.
- Maintain contacts with groups of small and mid-sized businesses
that can contract jointly for CGTC to serve as their training
and human resource development departments.
4B. Initiate delivery of Quick Start workforce
training for existing businesses and industries with new technology
needs and increase services every year through FY2007.
- Seek ways to work with DTAE to initiate Quick Start technology-transfer
services for existing companies throughout the service area.
- Promote new Quick Start technology-transfer services to existing
companies
