CGTC Vision

CGTC will strengthen workforce, economic, and community development for its seven-county service area by providing expanded educational opportunities for students, work-ready graduates for area employers, and graduates who create jobs for the community.

CGTC will play a key role in providing an educational “pipeline” that enables students to enter, progress in, and re-enter the educational process as needed to achieve their goals. CGTC will collaborate with area high schools, career academies, and home schools to provide dual enrollment options for secondary students. CGTC will offer a bridge to success for adults who need basic education, English education, and GED services and will help these adults progress to postsecondary education. The College will provide opportunities for technical program graduates to progress from technical certificates of credit, to diploma, to associate degree programs, and beyond into affiliated four-year programs. The College will also work to facilitate the entry of experienced workers and four-year-college graduates into technical programs and lifelong learning.

CGTC will be widely known as one of the largest and best institutions within its service area. CGTC will reach out to students during their high school, middle school, and earlier education to enhance awareness of technical education and to encourage academic achievement. Students, parents, and guidance counselors will perceive CGTC as the preferred postsecondary choice. The College will enhance its marketability by investing in web-based communications and other public relations/marketing activities that lead to increased participation in CGTC programs and services.

Students, CGTC personnel, and the community will be engaged in a vibrant collegiate environment. Students, personnel, and alumni will be involved in a variety of professional-, personal-, and leadership-development activities that lead to a sense of collegiate unity and esprit de corps. CGTC will embrace the community, and the community will turn to CGTC as a source of leadership, expertise, and civic involvement.

A variety of services will be available to support student success, increase retention, and enhance student learning – from education services and other preparation to needed academic, financial, and career counseling support during program enrollment.

High quality credit and non-credit programs will be responsive to emerging technologies and career trends, local employer demand, strategic industry needs, and student needs for advanced and continuing education. CGTC will be a regional center for healthcare and technology training.

CGTC business and industry services will stimulate and sustain economic development by providing quality customized training and services for new and existing companies and organizations. CGTC will lead in implementing statewide economic development initiatives.

CGTC will provide the best technical and adult education resources available. Physical and IT resources will be state-of-the art; however, excellent personnel resources will be pre-eminent.

CGTC will offer its constituents the highest quality technical and adult education programs and services possible and will do so with maximum transparency, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
