Expanded Educational Programs

High quality credit and non-credit programs will be responsive to emerging technologies and career trends, local employer demand, strategic industry needs, and student needs for advanced and continuing education. CGTC will be a regional center for healthcare and technology training.

Goal 5. Expand the breadth and depth of career education credit and non-credit programs and courses to prepare students for rewarding careers, advancement, and/or continued education.

Expected Results

Job Placement Rate – By FY 2014, the job placement rate for technical program graduates will be at least ninety-five percent (95%).*

New Programs and Courses – By FY 2014, at least five percent (5%) of CGTC credit program enrollment will be in programs and courses introduced after FY 2008. **

Library Usage – By FY 2014, library usage will increase by ten percent (10%) annually.

Healthcare Graduates – By FY 2014, CGTC will produce at least 500 graduates from healthcare programs annually.*

IT Graduates - By FY 2014, CGTC will produce at least 150 graduates from information technology programs annually.*

G5O1. Emerging Training Needs

Engage in ongoing research and development to ensure that the College provides programs and services to meet current and emerging workforce development needs.

G5O2. Expanded Academics

Explore expanding courses, such as art appreciation, music appreciation, and social sciences; expanding transferability options for those who wish to continue education or return to education; and expanding/adding “2+2” majors.

G5O3. Healthcare Training Center

Continue to develop the College as the region’s leading healthcare training center.

G5O4. Technology Training Center

Continue to develop as the region’s leading technology-training center.

G5O5. Expanded Continuing Education

Challenge and enrich area residents by providing a wide variety of non-credit continuing education opportunities including expanded on-site non-credit continuing education classes, online continuing education courses, and expanded certification and testing opportunities.

G5O6. Library Resources

Continue to enhance library and information print and non-print resources in support of the credit and non-credit curricula and the collegiate environment throughout the service area.
