Hawthorne to lead CGTC Board of Directors
Dr. Sarah Hawthorne, president and founder of AlphaSkills and retired educator, was recently elected as the chair of the Board of Directors for Central Georgia Technical College. Hawthorne, a resident of Twiggs County, served as the vice chair of the Board over the past year following the merger of CGTC and Middle Georgia Technical College. She will serve a one-year term that begins July 1.
The CGTC Board of Directors is a group of community and business leaders from each of the eleven counties in the College’s service area, including Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Dooly, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, and Twiggs. This group, known as the Local Board, assists CGTC’s governing board, the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia. In addition to reviewing and approving the local policies, procedures, and educational programs of the College, the local directors also serve as advocates for Central Georgia Technical College.
Danny Carpenter, retired superintendent for the Houston County Board of Education, was elected to the vice chair position for 2014-2015.
