CGTC Hosts Educator’s Workshop Featuring Judge Mablean Ephriam

Central Georgia Technical College will feature Judge Mablean Ephriam at a seminar attended by local educators on Thursday, March 1. The event, “Putting your Education to Work: Pathways to Technical Education,” will showcase career pathways and educational opportunities at CGTC. Ephriam will share her story of perseverance and determination in achieving her educational goals during a brief presentation.

Ephriam graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in south central Los Angeles with honors and completed her undergraduate studies with a full scholarship at Pitzer College in 1971. After starting a family, Ephriam began her career as a correctional officer at the Federal Women’s Prison at Terminal Island in San Pedro, California. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Whittier College School of Law in 1978. In 1998, Ephriam was selected by Twentieth Century Television to sit as the judge on the syndicated program, Divorce Court, which featured actual litigants and cases with Ephriam rendering legally-binding decisions. She presided over Divorce Court for seven seasons.
