Getting ready for prom

For the last three years, Central Georgia Technical College’s Cosmetology students have done the hair, make-up and nails for the female students of the Georgia Academy for the Blind on the night of their prom. This year, 24 GAB students were served by CGTC students. The students are divided into two salon locations for their prepping and priming where CGTC students meet to do their work. Cosmetology Instructor Janie Pierce coordinates this effort between CGTC and the GAB every year.

The Georgia Academy for the Blind provides statewide leadership, summer camps, educational programming, and outreach services for children and youth who are blind, visually impaired, and for those who have multiple disabilities.
