CGTC to Open Center in Forsyth

Central Georgia Technical College will begin offering day and evening classes January 6, 2010, in Forsyth as part of a collaborative effort with the Monroe County Board of Education and the Development Authority of Monroe County.

Classes will be held at the former Monroe Academy, which was recently purchased by the Monroe County Board of Education.

“We are delighted to be able to meet the needs of the community while allowing the tradition of Monroe Academy to be carried forward as an educational entity,” said Dr. Flora Tydings, interim president of CGTC.

Initially, CGTC will offer general education classes at the Monroe County Center, although administrators have plans to expand the courses offered as they assess the needs of the students. Some of the courses available will be College Algebra, Introduction to Psychology, and Composition and Rhetoric. Anyone interested should call 478-757-3400 for more information.

Students can also receive information on November 16 at a college fair hosted by the Forsyth-Monroe Chamber of Commerce. The fair will be held at Alderman Hall in Forsyth from 11-2pm and 6-8pm. For more information on the fair, please call the Forsyth chamber at 478-994-9239.
