EMS Program Combat Challenge

The Emergency Medical Services Program Combat Challenge was recently held at Central Georgia Technical College’s Macon Campus and included a chance for students to meet local employers, enjoy a cookout and compete in a variety of academic challenges. The Employer Meet and Greet session gave students an opportunity to discuss employment possibilities and to express their appreciation to employers. The employers present were Central Georgia Medical Reserve Corps, Heartland EMS, Houston Medical Center EMS, Medical Center of Central Georgia EMS, Mid Georgia Ambulance and Peach County EMS. After the cookout, students competed on different challenge events, which included Crash Airway, Quick Dress, O2, Patient Assessment and Stayin' Alive. Employers were able to see students perform under stress during the competition.

Courtney Terwilleger, President of Georgia Association of EMS, was also in attendance at the Combat Challenge. He is pictured with Kristal Smith, Program Chair Paramedic Technology.

Some of the students who participated in the challenge included, from left, Juan Salvatierra, Kimberly Draper, Sheddrick Sparks, Ryan Ramsdell and Sally Quattlebaum.
