Georgia Power Employees Graduate from CGTC

Georgia Power recently held a graduation ceremony for its employees in the apprentice program at Central Georgia Technical College. Existing Georgia Power employees selected for admissions in the apprentice program also enroll as a student at CGTC. There are two tracks, electrical and mechanical. In 1999, Georgia Power decided on a set of standards for its techs and brought those standards to CGTC. A partnership was formed, and CGTC has been training Georgia Power techs since then. Once the apprenticeship program and the course work at the College are completed, the employees are promoted to the level of Journeyman at their respective Georgia Power plants. This level is considered a promotion. This year, 23 graduates walked the stage.
