Pomp & Circumstance: A Casino Night Fundraiser
The Central Georgia Technical College Foundation hosted the first annual Pomp and Circumstance: A Casino Night Fundraiser on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the beautiful Idle Hour Country Club in Macon. Over one hundred people went “all in” to support this event, which featured Blackjack, Texas Hold’em, Roulette, Craps, and the Big Money Wheel.
“We are truly humbled by the support that we received from our friends and community partners,” said Tonya L. McClure, assistant vice president for institutional advancement. “It is our hope to grow this event into one of our annual major fundraisers in the future.”
Pomp and Circumstance: A Casino Night Fundraiser raised over $17,000 in its debut. Proceeds from the event will benefit the CGTC Foundation for projects including student scholarships and textbook assistance programs.The CGTC Foundation would like to especially thank the sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible.
2014 Race for Education 5K, 10.2K, and Fun Run
The Foundation hosted the 5th annual Race for Education 5K, 10.2K, and Fun Run on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at CGTC's Warner Robins campus. Finish line management and results were provided by Classic Race Services and results have been posted to Classic Race Services, Active, Cool Running, and Running In The USA.
Over 450 people supported the 2014 Race for Education and helped the Foundation raise close to $10,000 to support adult education and literacy initiatives at CGTC. This event is held annually in September, which is National Literacy Month.
The Foundation would like to thank everyone who supported the race, especially the sponsors who made this event possible. Special thanks goes to Georgia Bob's BBQ for partnering with the CGTC Foundation for the fourth year to support this event. Bob Evans and Jennifer Cox of Georgia Bob's BBQ Company donated $750 to the Foundation after the conclusion of their annual ‘shoe fundraiser,' which was held at Georgia Bob’s restaurants in Warner Robins, Byron, Perry, and Macon.

Ninth Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Foundation held its ninth annual golf tournament fundraiser on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the beautiful Houston Lake Country Club in Perry. With a record 29 teams and 116 golfers in attendance, this event raised over $51,000. Tournament proceeds will benefit student scholarships at Central Georgia Technical College.
The Foundation was honored by the attendance of members of Georgia’s legislative delegation and the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia, as well as representatives from the College’s Board of Directors and Foundation’s Board of Trustees. These distinguished guests had the opportunity to network with local business leaders and student representatives from the College.
CGTC President, Dr. Ivan H. Allen, recognized the generosity of our Corporate Sponsors and the cumulative support of Houston Healthcare and Jeff Smith Automotive Group. In 2014 alone, Houston Healthcare donated $75,000 to support academic initiatives at CGTC, and Jeff Smith Automotive Group donated an electric van valued at over $60,000.
