Financial Aid for Online Transient Students

Transient students are individuals who enroll in a class(es) at another (host) institution while still attending their home institution or plans to earn a limited number of credit hours towards their program of study at the home institution.

Student Responsibilities:

Before applying for financial aid at CGTC as a transient student, you should be approved by your home institution’s Admissions Office as a transient student.

As a transient student you should have already completed the financial aid process at your home institution. Therefore, your home institution has determined your eligibility for the HOPE Grant or HOPE Scholarship Program.

Notify your home institution's Admissions Office to request approval for Transient Status and for the Transient Agreement Form to be completed. Your home institution's Financial Aid Office will need to complete the financial aid portion of the Form. Upon approval, your transient agreement form will be sent to your requested host institution's Admissions Office.

Note: The Transient Agreement Form is a quarterly form. If you plan to be a transient student for more than one quarter you must follow the same procedure for each quarter. Contact your home institution with any questions.

Completes any additional forms required by the host institution.

Host Institution:

Upon the Admissions Office at the host institution accepting you as a Transient Student, the Transient Agreement Form will be forwarded to the Financial Aid Office. Those students eligible to receive the HOPE Grant or Scholarship will be processed and awarded the Grant or Scholarship based on enrollment status at the host school. The student will be mailed an award letter upon completion of the process.

Note:  Contact Admissions Office for Admissions process.
