November 3, 2017

Warner Robins, Ga. – As a commitment to quality service for the 43 percent of Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) students enrolled in online courses and programs is maintained, the Distance Education Division ranked No. 2 in OnlineColleges.com’s state list for 2017.

The website’s redesigned, “Top College 2017,” tool ranked more than 2,500 accredited colleges and universities on a variety of factors to determine Georgia’s best online colleges. Factors included affordability, student services, and availability. OnlineColleges.com gave CGTC an overall score of 97.

Online learning continues to be an integral part of the College’s well-rounded educational offerings. This semester alone, more than 55 percent of students enrolled to pursue their educational goals outside of the traditional classroom setting.

Dean of Distance Education at CGTC, Cynthia Rumney said her division “works diligently to provide online options that are high quality, innovative, and affordable.” Online courses include several delivery methods ranging from courses offered completely online, to courses offered partially online, to courses offered using video-based teleconferencing.

Most recently the implementation of BlendFlex courses – which allow students flexible attendance options between online and on-campus – has “truly been an asset to our students who enroll in an on-campus course, but cannot always attend on-campus meetings.” Rumney said.

“We continue to be pleased by the recognition given to our online education program, and remain steadfast in our commitment to providing high quality, innovative, and affordable courses for our students,” she said.

CGTC also achieved a rank of No. 10 in two-year degree online programs. CGTC’s $87 per credit hour tuition rate was a key factor in the website’s assessment and rank of the program.
