CGTC Announces Public Meeting for Initial Accreditation for Nursing Programs

February 15, 2019

Warner Robins, Ga. – Central Georgia Technical College’s (CGTC) Division of Nursing will host a public meeting as a part of a site review for initial accreditation of its associate degree and practical nursing degree programs on February 27, 2019, at 4:30 p.m. on the College’s Warner Robins campus auditorium in Building-A.

The Division welcomes the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) who will conduct the meeting and site review. ACEN and the College encourage members of the public to speak in-person and comment on the scope of each program’s development and impact.

The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) programs are two of the stalwart Health Sciences degrees offered by the College.

Having previously achieved approval from the state board of nursing, initial accreditation from ACEN would not only meet the required objective of the board but also potentially solidify each program’s quality for years to come.

“We are pursuing this accreditation to further define each program’s quality for our current and future students,” said Jessica Willcox, director of Nursing for CGTC. “Looking ahead, this could also increase student enrollment, drive board scores upward due to the continual evaluation of curriculum, and ultimately strengthen and support the area’s nursing workforce.”

Written comments are also welcome by ACEN and should be submitted directly to Dr. Marsal Stoll, chief executive officer for ACEN, at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, or by email at mstoll@acenursing.org. All written comments related to CGTC’s accreditation process should be received by the ACEN by no later than February 21, 2019.

CGTC’s Warner Robins Campus is located at 80 Cohen Walker Dr. Warner Robins, Ga., 31088.
