NSG 110 NURSING
FUNDAMENTALS (5-12-10)
Prerequisites: AHS 101, ENG 101, MAT 101, PSY 101, AHS 104
An introduction to the nursing process. Topics include: orientation
to the profession; ethics and law; community health; client
care which is defined as using the nursing process, using
critical thinking, and providing client education and includes
principles and skills of nursing practice, documentation,
and an introduction to physical assessment; geriatrics; customer/client
relationships; and standard precautions.
NSG 112 MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING
I (9-0-9)
Prerequisites: AHS 102, AHS 103, NSG 110
Co-requisite: NPT 112
Focuses on health management and maintenance and the prevention
of illness, care of the individual as whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health. The definition of client
care includes using the nursing process, performing assessments,
using critical thinking, and providing client education. Topics
include: health management and maintenance and prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health in the cardiovascular, respiratory,
endocrine, urinary, and gastrointestinal systems; client care,
treatments, pharmacology, and diet therapy related to the
cardiovascular respiratory, endocrine, urinary, and gastrointestinal
systems; and standard precautions.
NSG113 MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING
II (9-0-9)
Prerequisites: AHS 102, AHS 103, NSG 110
Co-requisite: NPT 113
Focuses on health management and maintenance and the prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health. The definition of client
care includes using the nursing process, performing assessments,

include: health management and maintenance and prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health in the musculoskeletal, neurological,
integumentary, and sensory systems, mental health, and oncology;
client care, treatments, pharmacology, and diet therapy related
to the musculoskeletal, neurological, integumentary, and sensory
systems, mental health, and oncology; and standard precautions.
NSG 212 PEDIATRIC NURSING (5-0-5)
Prerequisites: AHS 102,AHS 103,NSG 110
Co-requisite: NPT 213, NPT 212, NSG 213
Focuses on health management and maintenance and the prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health. The definition of client

include: health management and maintenance and prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health in the pediatric client; client
care, treatments, pharmacology, and diet therapy of the pediatric
client; growth and development; and standard precautions.
NSG 213 OBSTETRICAL NURSING (5-0-5)

Focuses on health management and maintenance and the prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health. The definition of client
care includes using the nursing process, performing assessments,
using critical thinking, and providing client education. Topics
include: health management and maintenance and prevention
of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations
from the normal state of health in the reproductive system,
obstetric clients, and the newborn; client care, treatments,
pharmacology, and diet therapy related to the reproductive
system, obstetric clients, and the newborn; and standard precautions.
NSG 215 NURSING LEADERSHIP (2-0-2)
Prerequisites: AHS 102, AHS 103, AHS 109, NSG 110,
NSG 112, NPT 112
Builds on the concepts presented in prior nursing courses
and develops the skills necessary for successful performance
in the job market. Topics include: application of nursing
process, critical thinking, supervisory skills, client education
methods, group and other TQM processes, and conflict resolution.
