MRI 101
1INTRODUCTION TO MRI (4-0-4)
Prerequisite: Program admission
Co-requisites: MRI 110 and MRI
115
Provides knowledge of patient care and assessment, contrast
agents, MRI safety, medical ethics and law, cultural diversity,
and patient information management.
MRI 102
MRI PHYSICS AND INSTRUMENTATION (5-0-5)
Prerequisite: MRI 101, MRI
110, and MRI 115
Co-requisite: MRI 111
Introduces the concepts of basic physics and instrumentation
for magnetic resonance imaging. Topics include system operation
and components, image processing and display, image quality and
artifacts, gradients, and imaging parameters.
MRI 108
MRI REGISTRY REVIEW (4-0-4)
Prerequisite: MRI 102 and MRI
111
Co-requisite: MRI 112
Provides a comprehensive review of patient care, imaging procedures,
imaging formation and data acquisition for the magnetic resonance
imaging certification exam.
MRI
110 MRI Clinical Education I (0-14-4)
Prerequisite: Program admission
Co-requisite: MRI 101 and MRI
115
Introduces students to the magnetic resonance imaging department
and provides an opportunity for participation in and observation
of MRI procedures. Topics include equipment utilization, imaging
sequences, evaluation of MRI procedures, contrast medias, and progress
toward completion of clinical competency evaluations.
MRI 111
MRI CLINICAL EDUCATION II (0-21-7)
Prerequisite: MRI 101, MRI
110, and MRI 115
Co-requisite: MRI 102
Intermediate course that reinforces learning obtained in MRI
110. Topics include equipment utilization, imaging sequences, evaluation
of MRI procedures, contrast medias, and progress toward completion
of clinical competency evaluations.
MRI 112
MRI CLINICAL EDUCATION III (0-21-7)
Prerequisite: MRI 102 and MRI
111
Co-requisite: MRI 108
This is a capstone course that reinforces and enhances learning
obtained in MRI 110 and 111. Completion of the required ARRT clinical
competency examinations and optimal Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques
are the goal of this course.
MRI 115 MRI PROCEDURES
(5-0-5)
Prerequisite: Program admission
Co-requisite: MRI 101, MRI
110
Provides knowledge of anatomy, pathology, scanning protocols,
contrast administration, and contraindications for magnetic resonance
imaging of the head and neck, spine, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, and
musculoskeletal system.
