IFC 100 INDUSTRIAL SAFETY
PROCEDURES (2-1-2)
Prerequisite: Provisional admission
Provides an in-depth study of the health and safety practices
required for maintenance of industrial, commercial, and home electrically operated equipment.
Topics include: introduction to OSHA regulations; safety
tools, equipment and procedures; and first aid and cardiopulmonary
resuscitation.
IFC 101 DIRECT CURRENT CIRCUITS I (3-2-4)
Prerequisite: MAT 101 for
program majors with MAT 101 requirements; MAT
103 for diploma programs with MAT 103 requirements;
MAT 191 for degree program
majors
Introduces direct current (DC) concepts and applications.
Topics include: electrical principles and laws; batteries;
DC test equipment; series, parallel, and simple combination
circuits; and laboratory procedures and safety practices.
IFC 102 ALTERNATING CURRENT I (3-2-4)
Prerequisites: MAT 101
for program majors with MAT 101 requirements; IFC
101, MAT 103 for program majors with MAT 103 requirements;MAT
191 for degree program majors; MAT
104 for Electronics diploma majors
Introduces the theory and application of varying sine wave
voltages and current. Topics include: magnetism, AC wave
generation, AC test equipment, inductance, capacitance,
and basic transformers.
IFC 103 SOLID STATE DEVICES
I (3-2-4)
Prerequisite: IFC 102
Introduces the physical characteristics and applications
of solid state devices. Topics include: introduction to
semiconductor fundamentals, diode application, basic transistor
fundamentals, basic amplifiers, and semiconductor switching
devices.
