PATIENT CARE ASSISTING (TTP1) (EE)
Technical Certificate of Credit
The Patient Care Assisting program provides students with
the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed
as assistants in patient care in nursing homes and other health
care facilities. This program includes the Certified Nursing
Assistant program (CNA 100), as approved by the Georgia Medical
Care Foundation, as well as courses currently being taught
under State Standards in the general areas of psycho-social
needs of patients, work ethics, communications, infection
control, patient hygiene, nourishment, taking vital signs,
and patient care. The program requires 16-credit hours and
180 contact hours. Students should be able to successfully
complete the program in one to two quarters. Program completers
are qualified to take the State CNA certification test for
CNAs. Names of program completers will be placed on the Nurses
Aid Registry (NAR), State Department of Human Resources.
